Medusa’s Make-Up – January 2018

I have been trying to get to this review for about a week now. After trying out the lipstick from Medusa’s Make-Up I decided to check out their website again. I noticed that they do a monthly subscription. To me that is perfect since I did want to try other products. Plus if I got fun colours that would be easier than trying to commit to buying them individually. They offer both monthly and yearly. I always check the math on it and it worked out to be the same price. I also did not want to commit to a full 12 months because that may end up being overkill for myself.

I paid $27.16 CAD ($20.95USD). This includes the shipping and a processing fee. Unfortunately it was not broken out on any of the receipts so I am not sure how much the box was itself. Shipping was $5.00 and rate increase to $10.00. I will keep it for another month but I may end it at that point. It seems fairly pricey to me for a regular subscription.

First item I pulled out was a setting spray. I have not tried this yet and now I have a few different ones. Cost is $10.00USD

** I have used this setting spray a few times. I do like it. I have only used it on light make up days. I am not sure how I would compare it to my others.

Here we have the Metallic AF Lip Gloss in Hells Bells. Now this has some pretty good staying power. I have yet to try it on my lips. I am not wanting to sport the full metallic so I need to practice my ombre look before wearing it out. Very nice pink colour though. This is $11.00USD

I did swatch this but you can hardly see it in the picture. The glitter is gorgeous though! It is a gold irirdescence called Star Wars. The cost is $8.00USD. No idea how I am going to use this but I will find a way. Plus this pot will last a lifetime it looks like.

Another neutral colour but it has some nice sheen to it. We have Mystical Eyedust in Chrysaor. Very happy with this colour and it is also safe for all other applications. Happy that I will be able to try this out on my lips as well. Having dual purposes makes me feel better. This costs $11.95USD.

I will admit despite the raise in shipping I am looking forward to what will be received in February. I probably would have never bought the glitter. I also would have stayed away from the metallic lip glosses. This is why I like subscriptions.

Also before I forget. They are vegan and cruelty free. While I do not force myself to only buy items that fall under those terms I do look for them and favour those products/companies. I also want to note they are PETA certified and not Leaping Bunny certified unfortunately.

Cleaning and Organizing- Master Bathroom

The bathroom does not look the worst from this angle (which is looking directly in). Trust me in the next picture you get to see the real mess. I want to note that I was only organizing when Missy was in the bathroom with me. I would not use cleaners when she is in that close.

Here we have the real picture of the counter. Somethings I had purchased for postpartum and others simply just did not get put away after being taken out. Such as the following:

  • Toothbrush heads need to be put away in the cabinet
  • Toothbrush charger needs to be put under the sink
  • Tucks pads need to be stored away as I did not end up using them
  • Various bottle need to either be put away or put to the side to get rid of

The drawer is just being re-organized. The only thing that will be coming out of here is a personal shaver that died. Why it got put back instead of disposed of I really do not know.

The cabinet is just being re-organized as well. The blue bin is coming out and everything in there will be going in the small toolbox on the counter. It contains first aid supplies and some medications. I will also be disposing of anything that is expired.

Again under the sink just needs to be re-organized.

Over the toilet storage will be re-organized and I need to go through the vitamins. Anything that is expired will need to be disposed of.

First I added items into the tool box. Which was purchased at the Dollar Tree and has a lock spot. I have to find something bigger for other first aid/emergency items though.

In the top left we have face masks, bath products, and samples. The samples I hold on to for guests or for travel. Top right is all nail polish supplies! Bottom left in the silver basket contains extra products, seasonal products (such as sunscreen since its winter), and personal supplies. Bottom right is Q-tips and cotton balls. The tool box ended up being moved after the picture was taken.

From left to right. Silver basket has bath supplies, hair shears, the extra razor blades, and my make up cleaning pad. In the green basket is all the extra shower supplies. Such as body wash, shampoos, face wash, and foot soak. I also have a shampoo/conditioner set and face wash in the white boxes. In the back are hot packs since I do not use them often.

Top to Bottom, left to right. I have soap for my bras and baby shampoo that I use to wash my make up brushes; foot lotions and a dry crème. First aid stuff (Iodine, isopropyl, and Nature’s Aid). Top shelf in the storage as you can see is where the tool box ended up with a few of the extracts. I also always have eyewash and nasal spray. Bottom shelf is mouthwash and floss. Than daily things like face moisturizer, hair products, and deodorant. Our razors and in the clear container are things we use in the shower but not daily.

Those shower supplies would be a body scrub, pumice stone, and shaving crème. The other would be my shampoo and conditioner. I only wash my hair once a week so I do not see the need to keep the shower cluttered with the two extra bottles.

As you can see the drawer does not look to much different. Front basket contains things I use regularly or semi-regularly. Middle contains Band-Aids and the last contains an electric personal shaver. Beside is just random stuff really or items that are to big for baskets. I really do not want to leave anything on the counter (like the larger mirror).

The bathroom is officially clean and organized. This picture was not taken right after I cleaned but rather three days later. Also, being real it took me a week and a half to get even get the bathroom clean. I would get part ways and Missy would need my attention.

The shower area is also clean. Missy had a bath and I had not cleaned up her bath stuff yet. I only keep my regular use stuff in the shower. As far as Missy’s stuff goes, the soap stays in the shower and her tub has a hook so it hangs on the shower rod.

The bathroom has been clutter free for a week now. This makes it easy clean and really makes me happy to not feel disgusted by it anymore. Next up is the master closet!

Coming Soon – Mini Series ‘Cleaning and Organizing’

When we bought the house I wanted to take photos of it empty and things happened so quickly that it was not empty long enough to do that. I do have the relator photos but the previous owners items are also pictured. I of course do not want to post those public. I also wanted before pictures for renovations.

After some thought on what to do; I have decided I am going to do a mini series. I will do the before photos of each room/area before cleaning and re-organizing. The last few months things fell behind and I did not finish getting everything put away anyways. So, we will have a real life, new mom mess.

Also because this is real life each post will be made up of things being done over a course of a however long it takes. I think this will be apparent with pictures but things are getting done. In the end that is all that matters.

Luxe Box – Fall 2017

This is a very late review but have done a year subscription to Luxe Box. It is a quarterly subscription (which is why I had to go with a year). I paid $96.00 CAD with free shipping. If you wish to pay quarterly it is $26.00 CAD and free shipping with in Canada.

I was pretty excited to see what was in the box and have new things to try out. I never know what to buy and I love to try new things.

Three of the items that I did not photograph individually are as follows:

Silicon blender by Laritzy Cosmetics. I do not own any blenders since I have never used foundation or concealer. However I am going to give this a shot when applying primer. Since I have one now.

*Update: I find it easier to use my hands with my current face primer. I will give it another shot once I finally invest in trying another brand.

Youthmud Tinglexfoliate Treatment by Glamglow. This is not something I would have bought a bottle of as my skin is pretty sensitive to exfoliation. I will either give it a shot or I will give it to one of my nieces.

*Update: I am giving this to my niece. So unfortunately I cannot give any kind of review on it.

Bath bomb by Sweetie Products. I am excited to use this since it has been forever and a day since I used a bath bomb. I will as soon as I am comfortable soaking in the tub again.

*Update: I did try this out. Got to be honest. I personally did not find anything special about it. So I am going to keep searching for ‘the one’.

I forgot to take a picture of the actual lipstick but it is Sugar Daddy by Medusa’s Makeup. I have been wanting to try this brand; that it was the number one thing I could not wait to try. I have worn it since receiving the box. It is not a staying lipstick but I am in LOVE with the way it applies and feels. I recently went on a red coloured lipstick spree. So, receiving something in the neutral line was fantastic.

**I will have to remember to take a selfie next time I wear but I love this colour and I love the formula.

Fit for a Queen by Morgan Taylor nail polish. Wonderful holiday colour if you prefer to go seasonal with nail lacquer’s. I just simply love how it turned out. Applying two coats gave me full coverage. I just have to see how easy it comes off.

*Update: It is a sparkle polish. It took some work to get off. How I will admit not as much as other sparkle polishes.

Here we have 6 Shades of Nude by Cougar Cosmetics. My swatches suck but Missy was about to wake up and I did not have time to redo them. I have not worn make up in a while but I am hoping this applies nicely. The colours are nice swatched in person.

**Did not like the way the palette was set up. I have chosen to pass it along. I think there are other formulas I prefer as well.

Intensive hand repair by Barefoot Venus hand crème. Love the smell (kind of reminds me of sugar cookies). I do like the feel but it just does not cut it when I am washing my hands every 15 minutes it seems.

As always I will come back and update as I try items.

Little Life Box – September 2017

Sorry I am not going to big intro into this box because I am a month late. I am going straight into what the box contains. No fluff here!

Now I did not keep any of the cards or such but I think I can remember what everything was. As you can see there were quite a few large items in Septembers box.

First up we have on the left, Chocolate Coconut Probiotic Smoothie Mix, which I have not tried yet but I have chocolate coconut milk in the pantry. I think it will work great and easier than remembering to take the pills. On the right we have a spice mix for Masala Fish. This is by Jaswant’s Kitchen. We are not huge fish eaters but check out the website. It looks like quick tasty meals that could be made.

These two I cannot try but if I could have I would have loved too. There is the cinnamon supplement (which expires before I could use it) and we do not know any one who would use them. They are going to the pharmacy to be properly disposed of. The second is a feminine ‘Hair, Skin, and Nails’ supplement. Again I cannot use it but I did give this one to my mother for her to try out if she wanted too.

I have seen Skinny Pop Popcorn before but I have not tried it. We usually just make popcorn at home but I will try it at some point. Besides it is nice to be able just have something I can throw in my purse for the day. The red bar is quinoa and cranberry flavoured by Honey Bar. I love these, I had actually bought three different flavours before this box came in. Huge thumbs up from me for this product. The green bar is Freeyumm honey apple oat bar. Which, I completely forgot about but will toss in my bag tonight so I can try it ASAP. They say their products are allergen friendly which is huge for some individuals and families.

*Update – Skinny Pop was alright. I would rather just pop my own popcorn though.

*Update – Freeyumm bar was alright. I think I may try something else from this brand though.

Bounce Bites, coconut almond. I am not a fan of coconut so I have to be honest I am avoiding these a little bit.

Starting at the top left, we have 7th Heaven mud mask. I have used this brand before and cannot vouch for how well they work but I do not break out or react to them. No one has Eczema so not sure if the cream samples will every get a chance to be use. The first vial is a body oil in Lavender. Psyched for this one and I did not see an expiry date so I will be using this the minute I am able to. The vial on the left in some energy gel shot. I cannot find this in the kitchen so I think it was accidently thrown out.

I know I had meant to have this post up last weekend but I am having issues with my personal computer and I finally just said screw it. I have also left Octobers box intact that way I can do a better review of the box and how I really feel about it.
