Hello Out There!

I just wanted to let you guys know that I may have been neglecting the blog for a month. Things just got depressing and I did not want it to come through here. I however have quite a few drafts saved that are being updated as I go along. Some are sewing projects that I’m taking a couple day breaks in between and others are going to be the first posts of a series.

The series will be started by the New Year at least. I’m hoping I have what I need already (or what can be made do with in the beginning). Plus, I want to play around with a few things before I make the commitment of having a post every week. My neighbors are seriously going to hate it ha-ha.

Sewing is taking place. However it is time consuming and I do not have a work area that allows for the most effiecent use of my time. So, again it is in the process. I just want to put the project up at once rather than long breaks at a time. I may switch to something a little more straight forward in the meantime. That way I can have a feeling of accomplishment and do not become discouraged.

Unfortunately Effie has not moved here yet, which I was very much looking forward too. I know I had not posted on here that there could have been a possibility. The offer is always open to her (pending my landlords approve). I will not air her laundry on here because that is none of my business nor would I air my dirty laundry here either. I do not harbor hard feelings about it as it was her choice and I know it was not made lightly. I support her in it actually.

Weekend Plans

I forgot to look for the thread for my napkin and placemat set. I know I looked at threads a few weeks ago and had picked up a couple candy coloured ones. I just cannot remember if I actually bought them or not. I do have to go by the store to drop off paperwork (we do their books) and I need to pick up batting for the place mats.

If it turns out that I did not purchase any thread then I have another project that I can do. I have Ford truck fabric (purchased during my last relationship) that I have nothing to do with. I decided that I would sew some PJ pants for my oldest nephew. I am not sure how much fabric I will have left. Might be able to pull off a shirt as well. It is going to be a little difficult as I do not have him here to do basic measurements. My sister is no help in that department either.

I also noticed that there is at least one uncut piece of fleece in my sewing bin. I figure I should do a pair for one of nieces and hope there is something else there for the other niece as well. I have plenty of zippers I am just not  sure about the elastic…I should have looked at this stuff last night.

Hopefully I can get a few things done this weekend!

Finally a Curtain

So it is nothing fancy. It was actually the only washed piece of scrap fabric I had that would fit the window. Quite girly with its pink floral print but when doing the edges I decided to add a little flair. I used an almost olive green thread and a triple stitch straight stitch. Unfortunately I actually think it made it a little ‘cuter’ ha-ha. The picture sucks but here it is anyways.

Curtain for the Door

I buy quite a bit of fabric as scrap from the thrift stores since it is so cheap and there can be decent amounts there. I was extremely disappointed going through them to find so many unwashed. So now I have to go through all these pieces of fabric and wash the ones that need to be. My curtain would have been awesome if I had not run into that problem.

I believe I bought thread for my napkin and placemat set, so I imagine that will be the next thing I complete. I washed all my new pieces of fabric already so they just need to be ironed before getting cut up. I will also do a step by step with those ones. Just a couple things I need to decide on between now and tomorrow.

Aprons – The Begining

I own one apron and I rather hate it. It is very short and suppose to be a full apron. I do have to say though having a full chest does not make a full apron very comfortable. I prefer wearing a half apron that I can tie just above my natural waist. Or at this time in my life that is a bit higher ha-ha.

I went online and found some free patterns. Seeing as I have a bunch of fabrics I need to use up. I though hey why not? Aprons don’t take four yards or anything. I found one that is quite a bit longer but it’s made with fat quarters, this should work perfect as long as I can match the fabric types.

Other then that one I have not decided what else I am doing. It is a place to start and that is all that matters. Once I get the materials all figured out I will post on my process.

If you had been following me before, I posted about sewing some other things but I am not quite there yet. I still have to take the time to figure out nice thread to go with it. But that is another topic. Till then hold on and you with see a beautiful or possibly horrible apron from begining to end!
