Goal Update – 2nd Quarter

First of all I would like to say Happy belated Canada Day and Happy early 4th of July!!

We really have flown through the first half of the year and to be honest; the second half will be no different. Of course check out my last post Goal Update – 1st Quarter to see how things have gone in the last three months. Other than that lets get right into where things are now.

  • Quitting smoking (again).

This has been done but I am still not revealing the reason why just yet.

  • Buying and moving to the small town.

This was originally two separate goals. This has not happened yet but we will see in the near future.

  • Dealing more with clients in the office.

Still pretty much deal with clients on items that I have worked on. It does seem some clients are more comfortable asking me their question(s). I would say it is moving forward.

  • Making sure things stay caught up and the new procedures are followed in the office.

This is just no ha-ha. It will get there but it still has not worked out in our favour. Yet.

  • Cutting my debt in 1/5 from the beginning of 2017.

I am just one month a way from having half paid off! Which is incredibly exciting in my opinion. When I set these goals, this one in particular, I wanted them to be achievable. It turns out I have underestimated myself a little bit but life has also worked out in my favour which does not always happen for everyone.

There are a lot of variables for the remaining of the year but I expect to 3/4 paid off at least. As long as I keep making an honest effort and I do not set myself back once the goal is complete. I will be satisfied.

  • Keep my time and life organized.

Still has not happened for me! Even if I had gotten somewhere with this it would be changing any ways. In the mean time I am trying to let go of possessions that do not have any place in my life. I think this help when I can get around to organizing life/house again.

  • Staying on top of the blog.

I am just not going to bother touching this one.

Fallen Behind

Wow! I have really fallen behind with the blog. This of course was not intentional. I have had a lot going on in a very short period of time. I mean it is almost time for a the 2nd quarter goal updates. This year has been flying by.

As I mentioned I have quite a bit going on right now. While I am not going to indulge on what those things are at the moment. Do not want to jinx things before they are actually set in place. In the mean time though I am doing a declutter. Everything has kind of just been put in the rec. room in the basement. It is time those things are either put a way in storage or they need to be donated.

I will be figuring out what I would like to put up though. I have things planned but they are not till the end of July. However, there will be introduction post(s)? I have not quite yet decided what I am going to do as a series or just as life proceeds.

Speaking of series, I have not done a ‘Container Gardening’ series for this year. There are reasons for that and I will hopefully still get some plants but will not be growing them from seed. That will come back in 2018. If anyone was looking for that.

Ya, I will be posting regularly again. Something to look forward too!

Goal Update – 1st Quarter

Things have been crazy for the first half of the year. Things were going to happen and then things did not happen. As I did last year though, I am doing updates through out the year of things I wanted accomplished this year. You can check out the post which tells us what happened in 2016 and what I am going after in 2017 here. So lets look at where we have made it so far!

  • I have to quit smoking again :(. This time it will stick though because of surprise reasons.

This hasn’t happened yet, I have a date though.

  • Moving back to the small town.
  • Than buying a place in said small town.

These two go hand in hand now actually. There was a place we were going to move into for a time being but things fell through. It was for the better anyways.

  • Dealing more with clients in the office.

It is tax time so I have not had much contact with anyone really. Things are a little different from last year though.

  • Making sure things stay caught up in the office. Keeping the new procedures in place.

We are not quite there yet. This has become more important than ever though.

  • Having my debt cut in 1/2 from what it was at the beginning of 2017.

Here is the big one. Now I have not and will not post amounts of monies owing for obvious privacy reasons. It was not the biggest amounts but when you live pay cheque to pay cheque it makes quite the deal on a budget. I was able to go back and check what I owed on one of the debts in the beginning of the year. Two debts have been paid off as of March 2017.

At the end of the first quarter I have paid off exactly one third! Give or take a couple dollars of course. This means having the half paid off is very close. I chose only a half because sometimes things happen and changes need to be made. I have had to alter my payment plan and expectations more times than I want to admit. I will do a full post on this in the near future.

  • Staying on top of the blog.

Clearly this has fallen behind. No need to go into it any further.

  • Keeping my time and life organized.

I did try to start working on this but tax season happened. This has become even more important now. I just need to find my own personal system that works for me.

If I am going to be honest things with the blog are going to change a little. It will still be a personal blog but with new topics. I have said that before in the past and I still have my heart set on previous series. Things cannot be forced when it is not their time.

10 of my Favourite Books

This will have to be one of the toughest lists I will make. I feel bad for leaving any books out but I will admit there are some I just become disappointed in after finishing. I also never leave a book unfinished, even if I cannot stand it half way through. On with the list.

  1. Fried Green Tomatoes by Fannie Flagg – So many feelings are had when reading this book.
  2. Tale of Two Cities by Charles Dickens – I actually have a hard copy of this book. To be fair this book takes commitment to read so it does not happen all that often.
  3. Call of the Wild by Jack London
  4. The Help by Kathryn Stockett – I just really enjoy this book
  5. Catcher and in Rye by J. D. Salinger
  6. Dream Catcher by Stephen King – This book terrified me ha-ha
  7. The Hobbit by J. R. R. Tolkien – I read this book in 7th grade (borrowed it from my step-father) and I just immediately fell in love with it.
  8. Animal Farm by George Orwell – We read this in school but I have read it many times since than.
  9. Charlotte’s Web by EB White
  10. The Tragedy of Pudd’nhead Wilson – Mark Twain

This list was even harder to write than the movie list. There are just so many out there. Again, I head trouble keeping to the recent but the classics are just that, classics. I made sure not to repeat any authors and picked my absolute out of the handful of books I love from some of them. Till tough narrowing it down to ten though.

Doga: Starting Yoga with Galaxy

Oh how I wish I got a photo or video clip of when I completed a yoga video with Galaxy existing. It was all cute until both dogs decided they should be weaved in between me and then start playing while I was in the downward dog pose. It did not end well for any of us.

I haven not done yoga in at least two years. This is a new thing for her. The last few months I have not been able to complete a secession as she would push against me or try playing. This time she pretty much just relaxed; laid on her side with her paws under my body. Depending on the pose or switches she would push her head under my body as well. I am not bothered by this. I actually quite enjoy the dogs relaxing beside me. It just makes switching interesting at times. Although, her taking up half the mat is something I could live with out.

Bullet was more interested in hanging out during the relaxing entrance and exit of the secession. It is another topic but Bullet loved when I practiced belly dancing with a coin belt on. That is not safe for him though as I could accidently step on him while he laid there. I am afraid to introduce that one to Galaxy.

Right now I am focusing on routine that is good for people who sit for long periods of time. With tax season coming up very quickly I would like the routine to be slightly easier so I can reap the full benefits of relaxing and de-stressing after a long day of frustrations.
