Cleaning and Organizing – Make Up Vanity – Part Two

Does it not look so pretty! I have a couple adjustments to make still. I bought two new containers for my brushes (currently using glasses from my cabinet). I want to find an apothecary container for the blenders. I want it to have a lid though to keep gross things off the clean blenders.

At the end I have documented what has been decluttered as well!

This is the long skinny drawer. If you checked out part one I did not document this drawer. there was nothing in it at the time. This is almost like an everyday type drawer. Not really…. I have put regular use items such as mascara, waterline liner, setting powder, and brow setters. my highlighters and blushes stay in this drawer. The random things such as glitter, concealers (I was just playing around with them), mascara primers, and eye primers. I only have so much room, so I need to be very thoughtful about this.

Top drawer still looks pretty much the same. I did orgainze the lipsticks a little better. Top is reds, next is pinks, and than I have the more nude colours. The bottom has a metallic purple I swatched. Along with primer and an iridescent lip. On the right I have some primers, a setting spray, and a liquid highlighter. Now anything in a bottle I do not exactly want it on its side. I would rather not clean up liquid highlighter from everything.

The middle drawer finally has everything in it. What is missing from this photo and what was in part one, is the Urban Decay Ultimate Basics pallet. I gave this to my Mother as I found it too powdery for my liking. I also was not able to get a handle on blending the colours (this will not be pictured below). The little mason jar in the back has my electric blue mascara (not for everyday ha-ha) and liners. I also believe there are shadow pencils in there.

This has to be the most exciting drawer (bottom drawer). This is all new products. Except I can see my Amour blush in there, I must have taken this after going through some more things for my Mother. The baskets went according to plan. The eye and lip products are in the back basket. Everything else goes into the front basket.

This has been hugely helpful in everything. Finding what I need or want to try is so easy (except for the lip products since there is a lot of them in there). I can do my make up now without spending half the time looking. I am also not going and just doing whatever because it is what is easiest. I get to actually use what I have. I am by no means beauty anything but I like being able to enjoy it. Let’s see what had to go though.

Everything in this basket is trash/recycling. There are no make up products in there. Some items I had to pull out new things to replace the items I was decluttering. I still could not believe what was there.

Not make up but there are going. Clips hurt my head and I do not think they are good for the hair. Nail sticker I will not use and can give to my nieces.

These items came out of the bathroom but I thought they fell into this category. The Tarte FRXXXTION stick and cleanser are both expired. The toner I did not like and it was probably expired too. I got a sample of the Lala Retro Whipped by Drunk Elephant, I picked this sample as I really wanted to try it. I am glad all I got was a sample because this gave me insane break outs. There is also the Icelandic Relief Eye Cream Pen by SKYN Iceland. I liked this, the pen was not finished, I do not like the pen. I might buy the jar, the price does scare me a little. I am trying something else at the moment though.

The face primer at the top, I have noted in the past I do not like it. This one is expired and I have a new one in my drawer. I have not decided if I am going to try it again or give it a way. Shadow Insurance by Too Faced and Primer Potion by Urban Decay are both expired. I do not think I will be repurchasing the Shadow Insurance. I am using another tube of the Primer Potion I had on hand. The Smashbox Mascara Primer, was expired and I did not use it enough to get a real opinion on it.

The Cougar eye pallet I tried a couple times. I gave this to my Aunt since it is not crazy colours. It just was not for me in the end. Both of the mascaras are expired. The Super Fan by Smashbox flaked a lot for me if I remember correctly. The Tarte Lights, Camera, Action was not a favourite either (there were two of these, the other being dried out and Missy was playing with it). I have another sample of this one. I am not opposed to giving it another shot and seeing if I was doing something wrong.

The top is one of Lime Crimes Diamond Crushers. I wish it was not so old as I really wanted to try it out. Both Lime Crime products I bought while pregnant and swatched a time or two. They need to go. I think in the middle is Beauty Crop(?) and just not for me in the end. Grande Lips is plumping and I got a pretty extreme reaction from the swatch. I am so happy I never put it on my lips. Bottom is just a lip liner I got in one of the beauty boxes from 2018. I will not ever use it so it is gone.

The pink Melted I bought while pregnant so it automatically goes. I could not remember when I bought the Melted Chocolate, better safe than sorry and I let it go. The red Revlon Cushion did not flatter me what so ever. I let it go but could not pass it on since no one else would wear it. The bottom is red lipstick from a ‘natural’ brand. I did buy it a while ago but there has always been something off about it.

There are not a huge amount of products I am letting go but if it was not expired and I had not given it a fair chance, I want to try it again. By that I mean not once every couple months and probably not doing anything different from the first time I used it. I also feel much better that I am not using products (especially the mascara) that has gone bad or probably well beyond bacterial filled.

Medusa’s Make Up – March 2019

After receiving a marketing email, I decided to re-subscribe to Medusa’s subscription box. I went with six months this time. Here I have Marches box, however, I started this again in February. I just never got around to posting that box. I still might as, for me, it has been the best box and I am loving one of the products (the one that roped me into doing this again). The cost of the box came to $22.50USD. I believe it is pretty close to the same as when I quit getting it last year.

Marches box is very spring like colours. Makes me hopeful the snow will quit!

Now the eye dust lid seemed to have gotten a little loose during shipping. There was a slight coating on everything. You can kind of see the sheen on the black bottle. Not a big deal since it did not come completely off. The seal was also still attached.

Cucumber Toner – $12.95USD. I received a rose one last year. This smells like real cucumber (peel and all) in my opinion. I have not tried it as I do not actually like cucumber, I do not expect the smell to linger on the skin as well. I think this will be very relaxing and cooling compared to rose one I have tried.

Witch Lash Mascara – El Gato Negro – $12.00USD. This is a black, waterproof, super thickening mascara. I did not realize this was waterproof. I have not opened it up and tried it out yet. Seeing as it is a different formula than the electric blue one I use, I will not even bother guessing what it will be like.

Disco Queen Lip Gloss – Hot Stuff – $11.95USD. I regret not trying this out but the eye look I went for did not support it. This is suppose to be a purplish red with violet pearl. I almost want to pair this with the Amour blush from them. I will be opening this sooner than anticipated.

Eye Dust – Comet – $8.00USD. In the left hand swatch I have an eye primer underneath (Urban Decay Eye Primer Potion) and on the right is an unbiased swatch. I did swatch with a brush since that is how I apply it. You can see this is a minty colour. It is also very wearable. The swatch online for this however does show it as more of an olive or moss green colour. I am no way mad about this. I once upon a time had a colour very similar.

I did not get a picture with the look I created with using the eye dust. I will update with more pictures and thoughts as I use items.

The total value of the items received had I purchased them separate comes to $44.90USD. This nearly (ten cents off) double the value of what I did pay for the box. The only thing I would not have purchased out everything would be the toner. Even taking that off it is still a higher value than what I paid.

Beauty Box – Cruelty Free Box 2018

I ordered this one right after I ordered the Canada Box 2018. I look for cruelty free products so I figured this would be a good one to try out.

This box I paid $28.00 CAD for.

MaskerAide All Eyes On Me. One pair of eye gel patches that are suppose to brighten and hydrate. I 100% plan on trying these. Having a 6 month old does not make for beauty sleep ha-ha.

Amike Perk Up Dry Shampoo. I am going to see if my Mother wants to try this out. I have never used dry shampoo. If she does not I might ask my Aunt.

*Update: My Mother is in love with this product. I cannot really say more than that but I know how to figure out where we can purchase it.

The Beauty Crop Fabulous Flocking Lashes Mascara. This packaging is adorable. I am up for trying out a new mascara at this point. I have not found one that I am in love with yet.

**This was not a good mascara for me. It kind of only just coated my lashes. It was very dry and crumbly. Maybe it was simply just dried out but I am not looking at purchasing it.

Skin&Co Roma Truffle Therapy Face Toner. I am still using the toner I received from Medusa’s Make Up. I was recently looking at other brands to try out. I am happy to be able to try this.

**I had problems with the face scrub. This I just was not comfortable with. I thought maybe I was reacting to this as well. I cannot say for sure. It felt like it was doing nothing for me though. I quit using it after about a week and half.

Living Libations Open Sky Eye Serum. Serum for tired eyes, that is suppose to freshen and tone under the eyes. I am going to give my Mother the option of trying this if she wants. If not I am more then willing to.

Smashbox Photo Finish Foundation Primer. I originally started using this primer. It is not bad and it does do its job. I just wanted to switch it up and see what else was out there. I am not a fan of the almost silicon feel it leaves on the skin. It just makes me feel that I am completely cutting off my skin from breathing.

Delectable Triple Moisture Body Lotion in Coconut and Cream. I just reviewed this on the Canada Box 2018. The formula is to thin for my liking but it smells like it is suppose to. This one I am giving to my Mother.

I had a choice between this product or the Ultra Nourishing Hand Cream in Sweet Mint and Cream. Which I received in a Luxebox. I was not a fan of the smell and I know my Mother would not use it.

Nude by Nature Perfecting Primer. This is suppose to create a luminous base for make up application. I am excited for this as I have repeat primers which does not help if I am looking to try something new.

The Body Shop Drops of Youth. This is a concentrate serum that enhances the surface skin condition. I am going to offer this to my Mother. I know she is looking to try other skin products. If not I will be more than happy to try it out. I am revamping my skin routine.

**I actually think this was given back to me. I will have to go looking for it.

Beauty Box – Canada Box 2018

I get notifications about these boxes all the time. Until now though there was never enough in them that interested me. I opted to purchase this particular one because they are Canadian products and between my mother and I, they would all get sampled.

I paid $29.12 CAD for this box. I am hoping I find some winners in here!

LASPA Moisturizing Mineral Sunscreen. I usually use sunscreen religiously during the summer. I have a sun sensitivity so it does not take much for me to regret trying to get that precious vitamin D. I will be using this and I do not see myself having a reaction to it as it is fragrance free. This is a sample sample though. I truly will not be able to make a real judgement call on it.

Lovacado Extra Virgin Avocado Oil. This one is not at the top of my list to try. I mean it is an oil that you massage into your skin. I will see if my Mother wants to give it a shot.

Marc Anthony Hydrating Coconut Oil and Shea Butter. This I will be passing along to my Mother. With curly hair this is not a product I want to be putting in it. It is awesome this is made in Canada though.

*update: My Mother said this exploded so she just tossed it.

Evio Green Tea Primer. I received one of these in a a past Little Life Box. I remember being so excited to try it out. It is not my most favourite and I will not be going out and purchasing it. It also is not the worst out there so I have no problem using it.

Delectable Triple Moisture Body Lotion in the flavour Coconut and Cream. This does not have a strong smell and it does smell like it is suppose too. This is a very thin formula, while it does absorb well I end up using way to much. I did not have a reaction to it though. I am using it as a hand cream instead.

BeautySoClean Cosmetic Sanitizer Wipes. I have high hopes for this one. I am going to put a couple in my purse and store a couple at the office. I would not want to waste using them at home.

Nova Scotia Fisherman Forest Charcoal Soap. It smells very masculine and woodsy. Which means it smells pretty good. I did give it to Mister though. I do not use bar soap. It is much to drying.

Barefoot Venus Green Tea Body Wash. I have not tried this. Mostly because I forgot it was in the tube.

*Update: the smell is subtle and enjoyable. I do not find it drying but I will say that it is also not the most moisturizing either. I moisturize after washing though so it’s not a biggie.

Living Libations True Blue Spirulina Shampoo and Conditioner. I am offering these to my Mother first. These are suppose to be a clearing and renewing formulas.

We have another Cake product, this is Heavy Cream Intensely Smoothing Body Butter Balm. It has a bit of a stronger smell to it and the formula is thicker. I have not tried it yet but I have every intention to soon!

**I cannot do the smell. It is to rich for me and the fact that I would use it on my body. That is a lot of product to smell.

Medusa’s Makeup – March 2018

Ha, Marches review is not late. I only recently received the box. I think my favourite thing this month is that they changed their packaging.

The bubble mailers are not recyclable (or at least they are not where I live) but the cardboard is. I am not actually going to be putting it in the recycling but plan to hold onto it for a gift box. It is adorable!

Here we have Witch Lash in Electric Blue. Not quite sure if I will be wearing this one or not. So because of that I have decided not to even open it. I may actually include it as a gift to my one niece. I am pushing for this girl to have fun with her make-up while she is still young. I mean my favourite eye look at in grade nine was yellow liner on top of yellow eye shadow. I sported very bright colours and still like them. I just tone it down a little for my job. This is $12.00 USD.

Black Hawaiian Sea Salt Facial Scrub. This one is $10.00 USD. On the fence if I am going to try this or not. I really just do not use face scrubs.

Salt N’ Peppermint lip balm is $8.95 USD. I do enjoy the formula but I am not going to lie; this is just to expensive for my taste. It is a lip balm and I would not pay that price if it was in CAD. I do have others I enjoy just as much.

**Very much like this lip chap but the cost still hurts me.

Here we have Lip Paint in Whoopie which is $12.00USD. This is a true red and this was actually my second swatch. The first was a pain to get off and had not smudge in 24 hours even with constant hand washing. This one I took off not long after it dried down (dries down to a matte finish). My hand was raw for the rest of the evening.

I have just checked online for the product and see they have a lip paint remover. I am going to be honest and wished they would have included it in the box. I would still have this opinion if I was head over heels for everything else. It is going to be quite a while before I actually try putting this on my lips. Not until I find something that will remove it fairly easily. I mean in my house and not special ordering.

So, not on them but I am going to cancel my subscription for the time being. I may be giving a way half of the box and for the cost it is just not worth it to me. I do enjoy it enough that it is just going to be a break. I will re-subscribe in the future.
