Goal Update – 2nd Quarter

First of all I would like to say Happy belated Canada Day and Happy early 4th of July!!

We really have flown through the first half of the year and to be honest; the second half will be no different. Of course check out my last post Goal Update – 1st Quarter to see how things have gone in the last three months. Other than that lets get right into where things are now.

  • Quitting smoking (again).

This has been done but I am still not revealing the reason why just yet.

  • Buying and moving to the small town.

This was originally two separate goals. This has not happened yet but we will see in the near future.

  • Dealing more with clients in the office.

Still pretty much deal with clients on items that I have worked on. It does seem some clients are more comfortable asking me their question(s). I would say it is moving forward.

  • Making sure things stay caught up and the new procedures are followed in the office.

This is just no ha-ha. It will get there but it still has not worked out in our favour. Yet.

  • Cutting my debt in 1/5 from the beginning of 2017.

I am just one month a way from having half paid off! Which is incredibly exciting in my opinion. When I set these goals, this one in particular, I wanted them to be achievable. It turns out I have underestimated myself a little bit but life has also worked out in my favour which does not always happen for everyone.

There are a lot of variables for the remaining of the year but I expect to 3/4 paid off at least. As long as I keep making an honest effort and I do not set myself back once the goal is complete. I will be satisfied.

  • Keep my time and life organized.

Still has not happened for me! Even if I had gotten somewhere with this it would be changing any ways. In the mean time I am trying to let go of possessions that do not have any place in my life. I think this help when I can get around to organizing life/house again.

  • Staying on top of the blog.

I am just not going to bother touching this one.

Debt Progress – Last Update of the Year

When I last made an update on where I was to being debt free meeting my goal for this year. I had said that I was going to do another progress report before the end of the year hit. I make a payment to one of my debts twice a month but I am still excited to see that amount go down after every payment.

The debt I am focusing on jumped around the first 5 months of the year. I how however am not going to get into what kind of debt it is though. It is was just under $6,000.00. I wanted to have my debt paid down by one third come the end of December. If I break this out separate I will have paid this down to a quarter of the debt left owing. Currently I am just over half way paid off!

The revolving debt I have not really made much a dent in. I do not feel defeated though. I knew that when I made up the payment plan in June that I had a ways to go. I do not gamble (with my own money but that’s a post for another time), so how could I magically pay everything off in a year? I would love to say by the end of 2017 I will have everything paid off but I am re-thinking how I will precede with that year.

I have a method to my madness and I will write a post on what worked for me personally. I just need to make sure that it works for me since I am still on the first debt. There could be half a dozen tweaks I still need to make before things settle on the right path.

My First Time Container Gardening – Week Zero

Last week I had put up a post on how I was going to do a container garden series this year. Even more exciting since I will be doing it from beginning to end; instead of just pieces here and there for other people. So here it goes!

Now I do not have everything, I still have some seeds I need to purchase and pots to order. Below is a photo of what my ‘not a waste of time or money’ project looks like so far.

Seedlings Started on May 24 2016
Seedlings Started on May 24 2016

Now I really tried to put the names on the picture through various photo editors but they all kept crashing at the save point. So, I gave up.

Starting from the beginning, I borrowed the tray from Mom (I am the first one to use it :D) plus a clear plastic dome top. I am using Jiffy Peat Pots and Schultz Seed Starter. I opted for Shultz because I do use their plant food which I quite like. Those were purchased at Canadian Tire.

Now for the plants. Starting from left to right.

Tanya’s Pink Pod Beans – Pumpkin Moon (Fall 2014) **See Note Below

Thelma Sanders Squash – Free Gift from Edible Antiques (Fall 2014)

Sugar Baby Watermelon – Pumpkin Moon (Fall 2014) **See Note Below

Ground Cherry – Purchased from Edible Antiques (Fall 2014)

I will be purchasing four more varieties of seeds from Edible Antiques again. I was very pleased with service I had received. While I did not have any issues I did 100% feel like I would get results if there had been a problem. I will hopefully be doing (pending approval) a full review with the new purchase.

Right now there really is not much to show. I planted two of the last three in case one does not come out healthy. I will be planting six to eight bean plants which made four seem like a safe number. Another four will be started after these ones get put in their container.

I will stop this here. I also want to note I will add other pictures to this post sometime in the next couple days. It is late and I wanted to get this done. Fingers crossed everything turns out good!

**Pumpkin Moon Farms were purchased by another company since I have order from them. It does seem that the purchasing company was already established. I however have not and will not be ordering from them this year. There is a possibility in the future as I would like to continue purchasing heirloom seeds with in Canada. If you do have any experience with the new owning company I would love to hear about your experience.

Weekly Menu: January 24, 2016

This will be the first post of this kind. I did a DIY of a Weekly Menu Planner. I have been using it, although it has a been a long adjustment (I know less than a month and I feel like its been forever). The second week I did not update and the third week I did not really follow it. I had things that seemed to go bad quickly and I went out for dinner/lunch with my Mother the one day. I think I have this figured out though. There are going to be some items that I prepare on Sunday for certain meals. A good example of this would be my dressing for coleslaw. It is a basic cream/vinaigrette so we (our whole family) also use it for all kinds of salads.

Here is my menu for the week. I like how it looks so hopefully I can stay with it. I will let you know at the end of the week anyways!

January 24 2016

Sunday- Butter Chicken, I think this is pretty self explanatory

Monday – Spaghetti Squash, this all depends if the squash is still good or not. I will use a red (tomato) sauce and also add a meatless chicken cutlet. I think its similar to a chicken parmesan (I could be wrong but it might be healthier too). I love it!

Tuesday – Some Like it Hot, this is a name off one of the local restaurants menus and I really don’t know what else to call it ha-ha. Pasta with an alfredo sauce, corn, mushrooms, onion, and shrimp. This is a HOT dish, I use crushed peppers in the alfredo sauce and when I boil the pasta I put in chilli infused oil. You can feel the burn on your lips 😛

Wednesday – Turkey and Coleslaw, for the most part straight forward. I will still have NAAN bread left over so I will use a piece of that. Top it off with coleslaw and the turkey burger. Maybe a couple other ‘burger’ toppings depending on how I feel.

Thursday – Stir Fry, the type will all depend on what I am feeling that day.

Friday – Fried Veggie Sandwich, what ever veggie I need to use up in the fridge will get fried.

Saturday – Left Overs, now if there are no left overs I consider it an open day for what ever I feel like having.

Hello Out There!

I just wanted to let you guys know that I may have been neglecting the blog for a month. Things just got depressing and I did not want it to come through here. I however have quite a few drafts saved that are being updated as I go along. Some are sewing projects that I’m taking a couple day breaks in between and others are going to be the first posts of a series.

The series will be started by the New Year at least. I’m hoping I have what I need already (or what can be made do with in the beginning). Plus, I want to play around with a few things before I make the commitment of having a post every week. My neighbors are seriously going to hate it ha-ha.

Sewing is taking place. However it is time consuming and I do not have a work area that allows for the most effiecent use of my time. So, again it is in the process. I just want to put the project up at once rather than long breaks at a time. I may switch to something a little more straight forward in the meantime. That way I can have a feeling of accomplishment and do not become discouraged.

Unfortunately Effie has not moved here yet, which I was very much looking forward too. I know I had not posted on here that there could have been a possibility. The offer is always open to her (pending my landlords approve). I will not air her laundry on here because that is none of my business nor would I air my dirty laundry here either. I do not harbor hard feelings about it as it was her choice and I know it was not made lightly. I support her in it actually.
